Fields: Notification Management

The Notification Mangement page is a place to see all current notifications in the system, including notifications that may have been marked as "ignored" in the Notification drop-down. Here, you can search, sort, and filter notifications. You can also un-ignore notifications so that they reappear in the Notification drop-down.

Search filter drop-down

Lets you narrow your search to a specific field (one of Object ID, Object Type, or Message).

Search bar (contains)

Lets you specify a term to search in the field (for example, a term that would appear in a notification Message). For more information, see Searching, sorting, and filtering notifications.

You should not use the ampersand (&) character in your search.

Filter by

Displays the filters applied to the notifications that appear in the list.

If you select a value from the Created Date, Observed Date, or Status quick filters, the filter is noted at the top of the Filter by section. Likewise, when you search on a specific field, the field value you selected appears in the section. For example, if you search by Object Type and enter "node," the following appears:

To remove the filter on individual selected field values, click the remove icon () next to the filter you want to remove. To remove all filters so that all notifications appear in the list, choose Clear all filters.

Tip: To save a set of filters and specific sorting order for easy reuse, bookmark the Notification Management page in your browser once you finish creating your filters.

Created Date

Lets you apply one of the following pre-determined state filter options to your list of notifications:

Option Description
Past hour Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes only the notifications that were created in the past hour to display.
Past 24 hours Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes only the notifications that were created in the past 24 hours to display.
Past 7 days Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes only the notifications that were created in the past 7 days to display.
Past 30 days Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes only the notifications that were created in the past 30 days to display.

Observed Date

Lets you apply one of the following pre-determined state filter options to your list of notifications:

Option Description
Past hour Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes notifications whose last occurrence happened in the past hour to display.
Past 24 hours Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes notifications whose last occurrence happened in the past 24 hours to display.
Past 7 days Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes notifications whose last occurrence happened in the past 7 days to display.
Past 30 days Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes notifications whose last occurrence happened in the past 30 days to display.

Status

Lets you apply one of the following pre-determined state filter options to your list of nodes:

Option Description
Hidden Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes only the hidden notifications to display.
Not Hidden

Lets you apply a filter to the list that causes only the notifications that are not hidden to display.

This filter is applied by default on page load.

List of notifications

Displays all current notifications in the system. The following fields are displayed in this list:

Field Description
Object ID Displays the ID of the object the notification corresponds to.
Object Type Displays the type of object the notification corresponds to (for example, "Node," "VM," etc.).
Created Displays the date and time the notification was first created.
Last Observed Displays the date and time the notification last reoccurred.
Message Displays the notification message.

You can resize and reorder the columns in the table.

  • To resize a column width, move your mouse to the center column border inside the column heading, then click and drag to where you want it to display.
  • To change the column order, click the column heading for the column you want to move, then drag it to where you want it to display.

From the table, you can select a notification to view its details (by clicking the Details button). You can also double-click a node to view its details. For more information, see Viewing notification details.

Sort

Lets you sort the list of notifications by a particular field. Click the field once to sort in ascending alpha-numeric order. Click the field again to sort in descending order.

Page

Displays which page of results you are currently viewing (for example, "Page 3 of 14"). You can navigate between pages of notifications with the following options:

  • Change the number of notifications that display on a page.
  • Go directly to a page of results. (Specify the page number and hit the Enter button.)
  • Navigate forwards and backwards through the pages, one at a time.
  • Navigate directly to the first or last page of results.

Action buttons

Details

Lets you view the details of the notification you have selected from the list. You can also double-click a notification to view its details. For more information, see Viewing notification details.

Hide

Lets you hide a notification you have selected from the list. For more information, see Hiding notifications.

Viewpoint lets you hide a notification that was previously hidden. This has no effect on the notification; it will remain in a hidden state.

Unhide

Lets you unhide a notification you have selected from the list.

Viewpoint lets you unhide a notification that was not previously hidden. This has no effect on the notification; it will remain in an unhidden state.

Unhide All

Lets you un-hide all hidden notifications in the system.

Refresh

Lets you refresh the list.
