Moab Accounting Manager > Appendices > Appendix A: Alternate use cases

Appendix B: Alternate accounting modes

You can configure Moab Accounting Manager to be used in different accounting modes such as for usage tracking, notional charging or allocation enforcement. Getting started provides an example of initializing Moab Accounting Manager to strictly enforce allocations. If you want to debit allocations but need to avoid the performance costs of liens and quotes, then review the section on HPC notional charging. If you want to calculate and record charges but not restrict any workload from being serviced, then review the section on HPC notional charging. If you want to use Moab Accounting Manager solely for recording resource usage but not for charging nor allocation enforcement, then review the section on HPC usage tracking.

You will need to be a Moab Accounting Manager system administrator to perform the tasks in this appendix. It is assumed that you have already installed and bootstrapped Moab Accounting Manager and started the server before performing the steps suggested in this appendix.
