On this page, you can control how many virtual machines can be placed on a hypervisor by allowing Moab to allocate more resources to a set of virtual machines than a hypervisor may actually have.
On/Off
Lets you turn the Hypervisor Allocation Overcommit policy on or off.
You cannot make changes to the policy until it is turned on.
Allocation Settings
These fields let you set thresholds for allocating virtual machines to hypervisors. A low threshold will help prevent overallocation and a high threshold may allocate more virtual machines than a hypervisor can handle.
Lets you select predefined threshold settings by sliding the value between Low and High thresholds.
Click and drag the marker on the bar to the left (towards the Low Threshold end) for lower allocation settings, or right (towards the High Threshold end) for higher allocation settings.
Viewpoint automatically calculates the Processor overallocation allowed and Memory overallocation allowed numbers for you, depending on your threshold setting. A low threshold will help prevent overallocation and a high threshold may allocate more virtual machines than a hypervisor can handle.
This field is not visible when the Custom Settings field is selected.
Processor overallocation allowed
If Custom Settings is not selected, this field displays a number automatically, depending on your Threshold setting.
If Custom Settings is selected, specify the threshold setting for processor overallocation. For example, if you want your processor overallocation threshold to be 120%, specify 120 in the field.
If Custom Settings is not selected, this field displays a number automatically, depending on your Threshold setting.
If Custom Settings is selected, specify the threshold setting for memory overallocation. For example, if you want your memory overallocation threshold to be 115%, specify 115 in the field.
Indicates that you want to specify your own overallocation threshold settings. When you select this field, the Processor overallocation allowed and Memory overallocation allowed fields become editable so that you can enter your own custom threshold specifications.
When you select this field, the Threshold field is not visible.
Undo Changes
Lets you revert all your changes on the policy form.
Save
Lets you save changes to the policy form and redirects you to the Policy Management page (see Fields: Policy Management).
