The XML file validation page displays the status of the delivered Viewpoint XML files. This page shows which (if any) XML files might be broken because of invalid XML. Viewpoint automatically replaces any XML configuration file it discovers to contain invalid XML, saving the invalid one with a timestamp. If, on this page, extra files exist, it is likely that edits you made created invalid XML. Go to the Viewpoint home directory to remove or edit these files. For more information, see External configuration file validation.

Filename

Displays the names of XML files contained in the $VIEWPOINT_HOME//hpc directory. The following files will always display:

  • gadgets.xml
  • info.xml
  • navigation.xml
  • reporting.xml
  • security.xml

Invalid XML files (if any) also appear as one of the above listed files with a timestamp appendage (for example, navigation.xml.1371832463117).

Timestamp

Displays the date and time that the file was last updated. For example, Thu Jun 20 16:16:07 MDT 2013.

Message

Displays either a icon (indicating that the file contains valid XML), or a message about the XML file. The message could indicate that there are multiple copies of the XML file (when it is valid). If the file contains invalid XML, the message will contain a information about the validation error. (See the example below.)
