Setting node feature tags
The Node Management page displays both reported features (features either configured in moab.cfg or features that are reported to Moab by a resource manager) and configurable features (or features that can be configured manually by a user or administrator through Viewpoint). Reported features display with a gray background, while configurable features display with a blue background. While you cannot modify reported features through Viewpoint, you can add or remove configurable features on the Node Management page or on the Node Details page.
To create new (reported) feature tags, you must add node features via RM plugins or the NODECFG FEATURES attribute in your moab.cfg file. (For more information, see Node Attributes in the Moab Workload Manager Administrator Guide.)
You can also report features on your nodes by using a Moab Web Services plugin (for example, "Native"). For more information, see "MWS Plugins" in the Moab Web Services Reference Guide.
Managing feature tags from the Node Management page
To manage feature tags from the Node Management page
- Go to the Node Management page (
- Identify the node in the list for which you would like to modify the feature tags. (You can search, sort, and page to find the node you are looking for. For more information, see Searching, sorting, and filtering nodes.)
- Select the node, and click the Features button.
- The Add or remove features window opens.
- To remove an assigned feature, simply click the x for the feature you wish to remove.
- To add a feature, begin typing the feature name. An auto-complete window appears as you type to help you find the feature you want. If you do not know the name of the feature you want to apply, you can press the down arrow key on your keyboard to see a list of all currently-existing configurable features. To create a new configurable feature, enter the unique name of the new feature (up to 256 characters), and press the Tab key. This new feature will be applied to the node and will be available to other nodes moving forward.
- Click OK to save your changes or Cancel to close the window without saving.
Only configurable features added to this node (if any) will appear in this window. The node may have additional reported features; however, because you cannot modify reported features through Viewpoint, they will not appear in this window.
You can add as many configurable feature tags to the node as you need.
The Node Management page updates to reflect the feature tag changes on the node you modified.
Managing feature tags from the Node Details page
To manage feature tags from the Node Details page
- Go to the Node Management page (

- Double-click the node.
- Click Modify next to Configurable features.
- To remove an assigned feature, simply click the x for the feature you wish to remove.
- To add a feature, begin typing the feature name. An auto-complete window appears as you type to help you find the feature you want. If you do not know the name of the feature you want to apply, you can press the down arrow key on your keyboard to see a list of all currently-existing configurable features.
