About notification management
Notifications in Viewpoint offer users a quick glance into what is happening in their system. Notifications display on a per-user basis, depending on the user tenant and permissions. Notifications contain messages, similar to events. However, with notifications, messages display on a persistent condition of the system or component, rather than on a single occurrence. In other words, notifications display a "something is wrong," rather than a "something went wrong" message. For example, if a request to MWS fails because the connection between Moab and MongoDB is misconfigured, the failed request may be represented as an event; however, a notification condition exists that the connection between Moab and MongoDB is down.
Notifications appear in two places (for more information, see Accessing notifications):
- The Notifications drop-down in the navigation menu bar. For more information, see Fields: Notifications drop-down.
- The Notification Management page (Administration > Notification Management). For more information, see Fields: Notification Management.
In the Notifications drop-down, you can dismiss notifications (see Dismissing notifications) and ignore notifications (see Hiding notifications). You can also see some detail information about the notification.
The Notification Management page lets you search for, filter, and sort notifications. Here, you can show and hide notifications that you hid in the Notifications drop-down. You can also drill into a notification to see its detail information (see Viewing notification details).
