Viewpoint can be configured entirely in the user interface on the Configuration page. Only the super user and other users with configuration permissions can access the configuration page. There are many parts of the Viewpoint configuration that you only need to perform one time during the initial Viewpoint setup. However, these configuration options are available for modification if the need arises.
On the Viewpoint Configuration page, you can set the Viewpoint connection to Moab Web Services. You can also point Viewpoint to your LDAP or Active Directory to allow for user authentication when your users sign in to Viewpoint.
The Configuration Home page displays an overview of Viewpoint's configurations and connections. You can use this page as a quick reference to check the overall health of your Viewpoint system. For more information, see Fields: Configuration Overview.
The MWS connection is crucial to the functionality to Viewpoint. The first time you launch Viewpoint, you will automatically be directed to the MWS Configuration page (for details, see Fields: MWS Configuration) to set up your MWS connection. No other Viewpoint pages will be available to you until the connection is successfully made. Likewise, if there are external changes to your MWS instance and the MWS-Viewpoint connection is broken, the next time you log in to Viewpoint, you will be automatically directed to the MWS Configuration page to make updates and re-establish the MWS connection.
The following tasks describe how to configure your Viewpoint settings on the Configuration page.
These topics contain detailed information about the fields you will use when completing configuration tasks.
