The LDAP Configuration section of Viewpoint Configuration lets you set up a connection to your LDAP or Active Directory. LDAP users and user groups can then access Viewpoint using their LDAP login credentials.

Viewpoint and MWS use the same LDAP/Active Directory server. When you set the MWS configuration in Viewpoint (see Setting the MWS configuration), MWS pushes the LDAP configuration information to Viewpoint, and all fields on this form—excluding the Bind Password field—are automatically populated. Make sure that you have set your MWS configuration before you attempt to setup the LDAP configuration.

URL

Displays the full URL for your LDAP server (for example, "ldap://localhost:389").

Bind User

Displays the distinguished name (DN) for your LDAP bind user.

Your bind user is an LDAP user that is able to search the entire LDAP tree.

Bind Password

Lets you specify the password for your LDAP bind user.

Search Filter

Displays your LDAP user search string. For example, (sAMAccountName={0}).

"{0}" is a placeholder that is substituted with the user ID that is entered into the username field when a user logs in to Viewpoint.

Base Search DNs

Displays base DN that you want to be searchable during Viewpoint authentication.

Security Type

Displays the type of security MWS uses to connect to the LDAP server. One of: None, SSL, or StartTLS.

Lets you save the changes to the LDAP Configuration form.
