Modifying VM service policy settings

Context

When viewing service details for a VM service component (see Viewing service details), an Advanced tab appears and lists the policy settings for the VM. You have the option on this tab to modify the VM policy settings, including feature tag and migration exclusion settings, as needed.

To modify VM service policy settings

  1. Go to the Service Management page (Services > Service Management).
  2. Select the service that contains the VM service component you want to modify, and choose Details (or simply double-click the service).

    3. The Service Details page opens (for more information, see Fields: Service Details).

  3. In the Components window, select the VM service component you want to modify.
  4. Go to the Advanced tab.

    5. The Advanced tab only appears for the VM service components.

  5. If you want to modify the node features required for the VM, choose Modify in the "Features" field, and make the necessary modifications. For details, see Fields: Service Details.
  6. If you want to change the Migration Exclusion policy settings for the VM, choose Modify in the "VM migrations" field, and make the necessary modifications. For details, see Fields: Service Details.

    7. If you attempt to modify the VM migration exclusion status and the Migration Exclusion policy is turned off, Viewpoint notifies you that you cannot add or remove a VM from the migration exclusion list while the Migration Exclusion policy is off.

    If you want to modify the VM migration exclusion status, you must first turn on the Migration Exclusion policy (Administration > Policies). For more information, see Configuring the Migration Exclusion policy.
